Riggs 1977, pp. 262-263: 'The inscriptions show that Cock realized that this and the preceding plate were views of the same ruin, even if he was not certain just what ruin it was. It is curious, therefore, that this plate alone of the wole series should be reversed. Possibly it was the first which he executed.'
